Programs and Events at Bullington Gardens

Celebrating the Pawpaw, Aug. 17, 9 a.m.–noon

Pawpaws, the largest edible tree fruit native to North America, are making a resurgence. Join Craig Mauney, Area Specialized Extension Agent, pawpaw aficionado and farmer as we celebrate the pawpaw with information about how to cultivate trees, how to use the fruit and a taste testing of prepared foods using pawpaw fruit. $25 Limit 50.

Fall Plant Sale, Sept. 6 & 7, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Fall blooming perennials, trees and shrubs. Also the ‘Garden Shed’ with used gardening tools, landscape materials, and gardening books.

Dahlia Garden Tours, Sept. 17, 18 & 19, 1 p.m.

Tour of the Bullington Dahlia Garden with Dahlia Guru Brian Killingsworth. Free, but registration is necessary.

Wine & Dahlias, Sept. 20, 5–7 p.m.

An evening of wine, hard cider, music, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction in the Bullington Dahlia Garden. $40. Patrons, $100. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Attracting Birds to the Gardens, Oct. 9, 3:30–5 p.m.

Bullington staff Kelsey Jarvis and John Murphy will discuss trees, shrubs and hardy perennials that will draw birds to your garden year-round with examples of nesting preferences and food sources for specific birds. In partnership with Wild Birds Unlimited Hendersonville. $15
