N.C. Cooperative Extension gets its name from the cooperative relationship between federal, state and local governments that support the organization. Without, the support of our local governments, N.C. Cooperative Extension could not exist and conduct the work that we do to support our communities.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center is fortunate to have great support from the Henderson County Board of Commissioners and Henderson County Government. As a result, we have been able to expand the services that we offer and meet the needs of a growing county.

Each year, North Carolina Cooperative Extension recognizes counties that have done an exceptional job in supporting Extension in their county. Henderson County Commissioner Rebecca McCall received the County Government Partnership Award on behalf of the Board of Commissioners at the Association of County Commissioners meeting recently.

On September 6, Henderson County Extension Director Terry Kelley had the honor of presenting the award to the Henderson County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting. The inscription on the plaque reads “In Recognition of the Outstanding Partnership through Commitment of Resources, Inclusiveness in County Government, Advocacy and Involvement.”

We appreciate the support of our Board of Commissioners, County Manager John Mitchell and his staff and all of the county departments that help Cooperative Extension function in Henderson County. Thank them when you have a chance. They are certainly deserving of this honor.
