Manages the Bullington Center property, oversees staff and volunteers and leads educational programs for adults and children.
Serving Buncombe, Henderson and Polk Counties
Develop training materials in nursery crops production for Extension Agents with commercial horticulture responsibilities. Collaborate with national working groups to build regional support for research and extension objectives in nursery production and integrated pest management. Teach a graduate level distance education course on Environmental Nursery Management nationwide. Support state commodity groups like the North Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association.
Responsibilities include education opportunities for commercial vegetable producers in Buncombe, Haywood and Henderson Counties.
Commercial Horticulture and Consumer Horticulture (Including the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program)
Provide educational opportunities and technical support to the trout aquaculture industry in 11 counties and the Cherokee Indian Reservation in western North Carolina. Fish health, production management, and waste management educational programs will assist trout farmers, fee-fishing pond managers, and trout fingerling producers with the management and sustainability of their facilities.
Also provide fish health and water quality management support to the carp fishing ponds in 24 counties.
