We are kicking off our summer food preservation series with a Basics of Canning Class at the Etowah Library. Join us on June 6th from 10-11 a.m. to learn the basics of canning from the methods to the equipment needed. This class is free but registration is required.

There will also be a Basics of Canning Class at the Edneyville Library on July 26th from 10-11 a.m. This class is free and registration is required. Register through the Henderson County Library.

Join us at our office for our hands-on canning classes throughout the summer as we preserve the bounty of the summer harvest.These classes involve a powerpoint presentation with information on the science and safety behind home canning followed by a hands-on canning activity using the boiling water bath method with time for discussion and questions along the way. The cost of each class is listed below and all supplies will be provided. Registration is required and seats are limited.

Payment is required 5 days prior to the class date. We accept payment by cash or check with checks payable to NCCE. Payment can be mailed or dropped off at our office, 100 Jackson Park Rd., Hendersonville, NC 28792. Our office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
