Henderson County Strawberries are Now in Season

Strawberries in a U-pick basketStrawberries are the first fruit to ripen in the spring and nothing compares to a field ripe berry picked fresh from the farm. Once strawberries are picked they stop ripening so often times store-bought berries that have been transported long distances lack that sweet strawberry flavor we crave. My son recently described the taste of a freshly picked strawberry as “Sugar and Sunshine”. You too can find that ripe strawberry flavor locally at the following farms.

McConnell Farms Pre-picked at Farm Store (Open 9-5): 177 Old Dana Road in Hendersonville (828) 692-2819 Facebook
North River Farms Pre-order by Phone, Pick-up at Farm: 3333 N Mills River Rd, Mills River (828) 890-5316 Website
Obermiller’s Strawberry Farm U-Pick (See facebook page for open dates and times): 621 Allstar Ln, Hendersonville (828) 891-8841 Facebook
Pressley Farms Pre-order (Message through facebook or email) mhpressley@hotmail.com Facebook
