The smell of gingerbread and sounds of good conversation welcomed twenty-four excited youth and their families bringing their homemade baked-goods items to be entered into the Henderson County 4-H County-wide Bake-Off competition on Saturday, November 9, 2019. A variety of baked-goods were entered into the competition this year from cookies, cupcakes, cakes, to savory breads. During the judging process youth and their families were invited to enjoy gingerbread cookie baking/decorating as donations for a local food bank, enter into a creative gingerbread house contest, create at the crafts table, make a Christmas card for our Veterans, or play a round of kitchen bingo! These activities were led by 9 wonderful volunteers and the Homemaker’s 4-H Club who all kept the event lighthearted and fun for everyone involved.
4-H would like to thank our three judges, Kay Dalton, Kathy Morris, and Mary Maybin who had the hard job of judging all the delicious entries and electing the event winners. (While tasting food may not sound difficult, rest assured, if one had seen the beautiful creations and tasted the entries, they would appreciate the difficultly of this job as well.) However, they did come to their decisions and it is with much pleasure to announce the winners of the 2019 4-H County-Wide Bake-Off!
