We seem to take care of everyone and everything these days, but have you ever considered taking care of your kitchen and pantry? It serves us multiple times daily, but we rarely take the time to preserve the tools that we use. If you're straining to remember the last time that you checked in on your knives and thermometers, fear not! From now on, you will have the opportunity to do so on Tuesday evenings at the Cooperative Extension office!
On Tuesday nights (some exceptions will apply), from 7-8pm, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) will be hosting Kitchen & Pantry Health Day. It will be an informal time for individuals to drop in and address needs, such as sharpening knives and calibrating thermometers. It will also be a time to improve our pantry's health by following a food budget via reviewing sales papers for the upcoming sales week and swapping coupons with other members of the community. Each evening, there will be a brief lesson on stretching your food dollars and we will host a guest speaker once a month. A healthy snack will also be provided.
If you would like to participate, please join us! Our first evening will be Tuesday, April 12th, from 7-8pm. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Betsy J. Tankersley (EFNEP Educator) at 828.697.4891 or bjtanker@ncsu.edu
If you are unable to participate, but would like to contribute some coupons that you are not in need of, please feel free to drop them off at the Extension office or mail them to us, so that others in our community may use them.
Let's revitalize our kitchens and pantries together!
