Winter Tree Identification Workshop

(Updated: Nov. 12, 2025, 8:18 a.m.)
Trees lean over a stream bed lined with leaves.

When you walk through the woods, it's easy to see the forest for the trees when you don't know which trees are which. Join me at DuPont Recreational State Forest's Guion Farm for a mid morning workshop as I help you put a name to the face of those trees you so often see as you stroll through the woods. Afterwards, we will have a picnic on site. We will meet at 10:00 am on Friday, December 12th. The meeting location is 3015 Sky Valley Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28739. It can be found on Google Maps

The event costs $20 to cover lunch.  Payment can be made by sending a check to the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center at 100 Jackson Park Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792. You can also drop by and pay via cash or check in person.

Dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes as we will spend a couple of hours on the trail around Guion Farm.

If you have any questions, please call Western Area Agent for Forestry Nathan Gatlin at (336) 651-7330 or send me an email at npgatlin@ncsu.edu.
