Spring Soil Temperatures Are Important

Why is soil temperature important? Soil temperature is an important consideration for deciding when to begin planting spring crops because spring soil temperature influences seedling germination and plant growth. Plants will not grow below their minimum soil temperature. When measuring soil temperature, it is recommended to use a 3-day average. Remember that we can have frost through Mother's Day in mid-May.
