(Updated: Dec. 9, 2024, 10:42 a.m.)
Thanks to volunteer Ken Olson and some local growers, N.C. Cooperative Extension of Henderson County is pleased to provide updated maturity data on selected varieties from locations in Henderson County. In the table below you will find data collected on two recent dates for each of several varieties.

The table includes starch, pressure, and sugar indices for each variety. The optimum maturity range for each index is listed at the top of the column. Of course, varieties may differ in maturity from orchard to orchard, however, this hopefully will give you some idea of the relative maturity of these varieties in Henderson County.

We plan to provide this information throughout the season. We will add varieties as they approach harvest and delete those that have already been picked. If you have any questions regarding this information, please call our office.
