Have you been seeing triangular shaped boxes hanging in trees around your community? These are delta traps put out by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services – Plant Industry Division to detect highly destructive gypsy moths. There are about 20000 of these around the state every year and they are responsible for North Carolina’s success in stopping the spread of the pest into the state. More info about the state’s Gypsy Moth Program.
