*We are no longer accepting applications for the Master Gardener program at this time.*

The NC State Extension Master Gardener(SM) program in Lincoln County is actively searching for new volunteers. Becoming an Extension Master Gardener volunteer is extremely rewarding as you expand your knowledge of gardening and enhance your community through volunteer service and educational outreach. This program begins with a thirteen week course that focuses on the most essential elements of gardening within North Carolina through research-based educational materials. During this time you will learn through a combination of lectures, guest presentations, and hands-on learning among fellow students. Following completion of the initial training a 40-hour internship will follow before the candidate receives full certification in the Master Gardener program.

The thirteen week course will begin in early February and continue through May, with classes held Friday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A calendar of the upcoming course will be provided by the first of the year. Due to the interest of this program within Lincoln County, space is limited and not all interested individuals will be accepted into the program. Beginning this week we will be hosting interviews over Zoom to cover important information on the program before applicants are selected. If you are accepted into the program there is a fee of $150 which will cover the state fee, Extension Master Gardener Handbook, and supplies needed for the course. Payment is non-refundable, will secure your spot in the course, and is due four weeks before the start date to ensure handbooks arrive on time.

Please reach out via the email below to schedule an interview if you are interested in participating in this program.
