N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cumberland County Center announces the upcoming October Better Living Series workshops, which will focus on pumpkins. The October series will offer three workshops, held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cumberland County Center Auditorium, located at 301 East Mountain Drive. Workshop registration by Eventbrite is preferred. Interested individuals may also visit the Cooperative Extension office to register or contact Susan Johnson at 910-321-6405. Refunds only if the class is cancelled by Cooperative Extension staff.

October Series: “The Great Pumpkin”

“Growing the Great Pumpkin”

Wednesday, October 4 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Learn how to grow large, prize-winning pumpkins. Information includes proper pumpkin variety selection, fertilizer requirements, and pest management. Each participant will receive a packet of pumpkin seed.

Registration and $10 registration fee are due by September.

“Pumpkin Etching”

Wednesday, October 11 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Big orange  pumpkins and grinning Jack-o-lanterns have graced our front porches for years, heralding in fall and Halloween. Come learn how to put a new twist on pumpkin fun, by learning how to etch on your pumpkin. Each participant will leave with their own unique pumpkin. Registration and registration fee of $15 are due by October 6. Limited class size.

Wednesday, October 25 from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

It’s the season for pumpkins! Come join the Cooperative Extension staff and learn how to use those fall pumpkins for cooking! Participants will learn how to make puree, bread, and a tasty snack. Registration and $12 fee registration fee are due by October 20. Limited class size.
