Do you have a recommendation on trying to reduce cucumber beetles in peanuts to try and reduce root worm later?
Jordan:
We do not think controlling the adults will translate into fewer rootworms. Rick and I are looking at that. Last year we had about a dozen trials and saw no benefit from 3 applications of Steward or Brigade beginning around June 20 and applying the next two sprays at 2-week intervals. The caveat was that we had minor damage in the non-treated controls. We are looking at this more in 2023 with some trials going in with growers on a larger scale. Right now we do not recommend multiple insecticide sprays to control the adult of this pest.
