plant clinic

Samples should be partially alive and include the area of the plant where the dieback is occurring. Plant disease analysis is free.

If you are a gardener or professional grower you likely have experienced a pest problem on your plants. Have you ever wished that you had a ‘plant doctor’? What if you could take your sick plants to someone and have them diagnose the problem?

Well, now you have a place in Henderson County where you can get your plant questions answered. Your Henderson County Horticulture agents can utilize the newly installed Plant Disease Clinic to diagnose your plant issues. Thanks to equipment from NC State University and help from Henderson County Government, the clinic has been set up in the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center at 100 Jackson Park Road, Hendersonville. County agents have been trained to diagnose plant problems utilizing microscopes and reference materials.

To submit a sample drop off a live sample or email detailed digital images to one of our agents. Live samples should be fresh preferably taken the day of delivery. Avoid sending sample on a Friday to prevent sample from sitting for a weekend. Live samples should be partially alive and include the area of the plant where the dieback is occurring. Samples diagnosed in the Henderson County Plant Clinic are free of charge.
