Well, the people have spoken and it was no surprise. By a wide margin, visitors who voted at the Cooperative Extension booth at the NC Apple Festival preferred 'Honey Crisp' by almost three to one over any other variety.

Attendees voted for 33 different varieties and while, 'Pink Lady', 'Granny Smith' and 'Gala' were all among the second tier, none could come close to 'Honey Crisp'. The popular variety has been a favorite among consumers for the last few years. However, 'Gala' still leads the U.S. market in terms of popularity.
