May 25th, 2023 is officially National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day - a wonderful time to enjoy the wonderful produce that we find in Henderson County!
Here are just a few ideas of how to celebrate the day with your family:- Plant something! Whether it's a tiny carrot seed or a giant apple tree, every fruit or vegetable that is planted will benefit both us and the Earth, so this is a great way to honor National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day.
- Pick something! Check with our amazing Henderson County farms and orchards to see if they have a "You-Pick" or tour option available for the whole family to see where our foods grow.
- Learn something! Check out a book on growing or cooking fruits or vegetables from a Henderson County Public Library branch for free and learn about how our plants become the delicious foods that we know and love.
- Taste something! Visit one of our Henderson County farmers markets and have the family pick out a fruit or a vegetable that you are unfamiliar with and hold each other accountable to taste it on National Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day.
- Make something! Work together as a family to create a dish featuring fruits or vegetables. Younger children can help remove strawberry tops or tear lettuces while older children can help peel and cut produce.
