Henderson County 4-H Public Speaking Winners

Twelve young people from Henderson County 4-H participated in the State 4-H Presentation Competition at NC State University on July 20, 2019:  Emma Barber, Cayden Brackett, Charlie Brake, Lindsey Bryant, Haley Hargus, Callie, Maggie and Gus McCall, John Paul Torres, Allison Trejo, Kaylie Watkins, and Cydney Watson-Mumaugh.  According to their parents, children who participate in presentations build confidence and skills in public speaking, researching, planning, organizing and presenting a topic, goal setting, prioritizing, responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and teaching others.  Henderson County brought home 9 medals.  John Paul Torres earned a bronze medal.  Silver medals were won by Charlie Brake, Callie McCall, and Cydney Watson-Mumaugh.   Gold medalists were Lindsey Bryant, Haley Hargus, Gus and Maggie McCall, and Allison Trejo.

Thank you to 4-H clubs, leaders, Bill and Kathy Guerard, Elizabeth McIlvaine, Kiwanis of Hendersonville, and N.C. Cooperative Extension staff members for coaching and judging 4-H presentations.  Kiwanis of Hendersonville and Selee Corporation also provided funding for scholarships for presentations.
