After months of a "hiring pause" due to the lack of a state budget, Cooperative Extension has finally been given the green light to fill some positions on a part-time basis. We are delighted to announce we have filled our vacant EFNEP educator position, effective October 27.
Faith Lane is the newest addition to our staff, and we are excited to have her as part of the Extension team. The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is such a wonderful program that helps teach youth and adults alike the value of good nutrition, how to obtain and prepare fresh, nutritious foods, and the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Students who experience the EFNEP curriculum in school show a great response in adopting better eating and exercise habits. What’s even better is that they often share these habits with their parents.
Faith comes most recently from Augusta, Georgia, but is a recent addition to the Mills River area of Henderson County. She is originally from Tucson, Arizona, where she graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
She spent time with the University of Arizona as a Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications with the UA Cooperative Extension. She knows the Extension mission and organization well, and that knowledge will serve her well in her new capacity.
Faith will spend a period of time training in the EFNEP national curriculum and then will begin teaching classes and leading activities with various school age groups and classes. She will also be working with some adult audiences in the county through various organizations.
Her background in communications will be a great fit in her new job, as reaching the audiences she teaches is critical to her program. We are glad to have Faith on our staff, even if she is only part-time at this point. We do expect to fill the position on a permanent basis in the future.
Please welcome Faith to our staff. She will fit right into the Cooperative Extension team, and we look forward to working with her. You will find Faith to be a very pleasant person who is anxious to serve our community.
