Mega-bytes 4-H Electric Club
This club works mainly on electrical projects. They work on Project Record Books, Presentations, and send delegates to Electric Congress. The age of youth participants is 8-14. This club meets the second Thursday of each month at the Extension Center in Bakersville.
4-H Shooting Sports Club
The 4-H Shooting Sports Club is a youth development education club, which uses a prevention education model that strongly emphasizes positive youth-adult interaction and peer leadership. It uses skills and disciplines of safe shooting and conservation to assist young people and their leaders in attaining knowledge and developing essential life skills. The club relies on 4-H certified instructors to conduct classes in the various disciplines (archery, shotgun, and rifle).
4-H STEM Club
This 4-H club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Extension Center in Bakersville. The age of youth participants is 8-14. Members may explore how engineers build roller coasters, how sound waves are transmitted, biomedtech or solar energy! The opportunities are endless!
4-H Livestock Club
This club meets at 4 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Extension Center in Bakersville. The age of youth participants is 8-14. Members explore animal science concepts including species, basic care, animal identification, anatomy, digestion, diseases and more!
4-H County Council
Similar to a club, 4-H County Council meets monthly (date and location determined each month) for youth to develop leadership and citizenship skills and for youth to choose and implement community service projects. Each meeting is designed to be a fun, hands-on learning experience for youth ages 12-18.
4-H Programs
4-H club/council programs can enhance family communications and quality time together. It creates an environment for a caring relationship between a young person and a significant adult, whether this is a family member, other adult, or teen volunteer. These activities provide the opportunity for immediate gratification to the youth and satisfaction and self-worth to the adult/teen leader who acts as teacher and role model for younger 4-H youth members. Each local 4-H club/council is guided under the administration of the 4-H County Extension Agent and 4-H club/council information is delivered by 4-H volunteers and staff who are registered in the 4-H Online system and endorsed as a volunteer/staff through the N.C. Cooperative Extension background check process.
