livestock, from beef cattle to meat goats, is a familiar farming activity
throughout western North Carolina,
and an increasing interest in locally-grown food is driving consumer demand for
meats and other farm goods that are raised and marketed directly to local buyers.
This website is designed to provide information to both livestock producers who are interested in marketing their meats/meat products and consumers who are interested in purchasing from local producers. The information on this site was complied in preparation for "Farm-to-Fork: A Niche-Based Livestock Marketing Worskhop" which was held in Marshall, NC on October 6, 2007.
