Lakes and ponds provide municipal drinking water, water for crops and livestock, and opportunities for recreational activities. As a component of local watersheds they impact the quality of our streams. As human-created ecosystems they require year-round management to remain healthy and productive. Learn how to manage invasive aquatic weeds, prevent harmful algal blooms, and manage for good water quality and high recreational value.

Extension agents will receive free materials to assemble a pond sampling kit.

  • Pesticide Applicator credits are available in the following categories: A, N, D, and X (2.0)
  • NC Environmental Education Certification – Criteria II, III, or VI (6.0, in one category only)
  • Who should attend? County Extension Agents, Park Managers, Licensed Pesticide Applicators, lake and pond owners (including HOA Board members), Soil and Water Conservation Agents and Board Members.
