We are excited to be able to offer part of our annual County Activity Day In-Person! County-level 4-H presentations will take place at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Montgomery County office on May 3 & 5, 2021. Time slots will be provided in order to ensure social distancing.

Please register by Monday, April 26.

If you have never done a 4-H presentation before, this is the year to start! Youth who complete a presentation for the first time will receive $30 in scholarship money and each youth who is a returning participant will receive $20 in scholarship money to be used towards a 4-H activity of their choosing.

Presentations are a great way to involve youth in speaking publicly. At county level competition, there will only be 2 -3 people in the room during each child’s presentation. Presentations are open to all youth 5-18 (Age 5-7 are non-competitive, but a great way to get started!)

Youth can choose from a range of topic categories from plants & animals to science & technology. See this Presentation Factsheet for detailed information on all category choices. Once you choose your category, pick any topic within that category to create a 5-12 minute presentation. A brief overview of 4-H presentations can be found on this Presentation 101 document.

After competing at the county level, selected presentations will be recorded to submit to the district level. All participants in the district level receive a participation ribbon. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive medals ranking Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Gold & Silver recipients are eligible to compete at the state-level presentation competition.

I encourage all youth to take advantage of this opportunity to learn something new and gain valuable experience speaking in front of others. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at tracy_blake@ncsu.edu or 910-576-6011.
