Recycle Your Christmas Lights!

— Written By Denise Sherrill

The holidays are upon us again and as you begin to decorate you will inevitably come across a strand or two of dead lights. Now what to do, get a replacement bulb? Nah. Throw them out? No! Being the environmentally conscious person you are, you decide to recycle. But how are you going to do this? With our 4-H club, Leaders in Training. Over the years we have collected thousands of pounds of lights, earning cash to support our 4-H club, and given hundreds of dollars to local charities.

Drop your broken or unwanted lights off at North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center, 100 Jackson Park Road Hendersonville, NC, across from the ball fields in Jackson Park, during business hours, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. on most weekdays. This is a year-round program. Please support Leaders in Training 4-H Club.
