General Contest Information

Camden County has so much to love and we want to show our residents and visitors glimpses of our county on their visits to our administrative offices. Let’s just call it, showing off! The Camden County Tourism Development Authority invites our Camden residents to capture life with your lens and submit your images to our 2019 Camden County Photo Contest. We are seeking photos that highlight our Landscapes, Wildlife, Architecture, and Citizens at Work. Entries may be submitted from Oct. 11 through Nov. 11.

As a reminder, these images will be featured in our County offices and promotional materials, so share the images which bring joy and pride to you as residents.

Categories

  1. Waterviews – Camden County features views of rivers, canals, creeks, and sounds. Give us your best shots of our abundant, liquid tea.
  2. Wildlife – Abundant opportunities to encounter wildlife are available in our rural county. We’re including birds, bugs, mammals, reptiles….critters!
  3. Architecture – Every country road takes you past barns, homes, churches, and bridges. Show us the structures that make your heart sing!
  4. Camden Citizens at Work – Our Citizens come in all shapes and sizes, colors and heights. They make a living in a variety of ways and live their lives softly or OUT LOUD! We want to see your interpretation of an image that shares the story of how they live.

WHO CAN ENTER?

The contest is open to anyone over the age of 18 years old and resides in Camden County. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must enter on your behalf. Judges are not eligible to submit an entry.
All images must be taken in and of Camden County, NC and within the past two years.

HOW TO ENTER?

Use this online form to send your digital images.

Photos will be accepted from Oct. 11 – Nov. 11, 2019 at noon.

By submitting a photo, you agree your entry complies with the Official Rules.
You may submit up to 10 images. Each photo must be in digital format and have a caption and designated category. All photos must be high resolution at 300 dpi or larger. If you submit any photo under this resolution standard, the photo may be disqualified.

Photos must be taken by the person submitting and the property of this entrant.
Photos must comply with all applicable laws. Any obscene, defamatory, inappropriate entries will be disqualified at our discretion.

Photos may not have been published previously for monetary payment.
Minor editing of the photo is acceptable, ex. brightness, contrast, color saturation. Extensive editing, borders, frames, text or other graphics will disqualify entry.

Judges

Judges are chosen on professional experience, to ensure our contest is fair and equitable. Upon the receipt of digital files, a number will be assigned to each image by the TDA. Judges will NOT have access to the names of the photographers related to images. Judges will judge the quality of the image digitally, to avoid any conflicts on image quality in print. Judging will be based on quality, composition content, originality, creativity, and mass appeal for each category.

Camden Commissioners Award – Commissioners will collectively choose their favorite photo from all categories for this award.

Camden County Manager Award – County Manager will choose a favorite photo from all categories for this award.

All decisions will be final. Only winners will be notified.

Awards

Each category will feature a Blue Ribbon-1st place/Red Ribbon-2nd place/Yellow Ribbon-3rd place/White ribbon-Honorable Mention

The Blue Ribbon winners in each category will be printed, matted, framed and hung in the Camden Administration Buildings and recognition will be shared on the Camden County Social media platforms, Camden County websites, and acknowledged by the County Commissioners and County Manager at the December 2 Camden County Board of Commissioners meeting.

We will email or call winners by Nov. 25th. If you don’t provide a valid email address and telephone number, your entry may be disqualified.

At the Camden County Christmas Staff Celebration in December, staff will be given an opportunity to judge from entries for a “Staff’s Choice” award to be announced at a later date.

Other important information

While all copyrights remain with the photographer, the Camden Tourism Development Authority will retain unrestricted and unlimited usage of all images submitted for the purposes of promoting Camden County.

We may terminate or modify any part of the contest at any time for any reason.
We may disqualify anyone who violates these Official Rules.

All entrants agree to release and hold harmless Camden County and Camden County Tourism Authority from all claims related to this contest.
