Plan now to attend the Union County Heritage Festival & Wild Turkey 5K Run & Walk, this Saturday, September 21, 2019. The Heritage Festival & 5K are being held in conjunction with the 4-H Expo. The Heritage Festival & 5K are presented by the  Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Union County, in partnership with Union County Public Works and Litter Busters of Union County. The proceeds of the Heritage Festival support the Extension Master Gardener educational programs within the community.

The Heritage Festival is a free, fun, family event with the mission of sharing information about our natural and cultural heritage. This year’s theme is “Sweet Union, Still Growing Community.”  There will be educational exhibits, historic timelines celebrating the Master Gardener℠ program of Union County including a visit to the Festival by former Horticulture Extension Agent, Willie Earl Wilson, tours of the Teaching Garden, kids activities, live music, food, and an awesome raffle with many items donated by local businesses.

Exhibitors and vendors will include garden vendors, environmentally friendly businesses, health and fitness groups, local artisans, local farms, non-profit organizations who do good things for our community, and government agencies.

I would like to recognize and thank this year’s top financial sponsors of the Heritage Festival:  Wingate University, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Parks & Recreations, Union Power Cooperative, and Brooks Equipment. To see a complete list of our sponsors and vendors or to register for the Wild Turkey 5K visit the Master Gardener volunteers of Union County website.
