Henderson County 4-H Enjoyed a Great Week at 4-H Camp!

— Written By

Henderson County 4-H took 14 young people to the Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Center, in Reidsville, NC, in July. Campers enjoyed making new friends, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, rock climbing, high ropes, and more. Cabin groups took turns serving as waiters at meals and competed for awards for cleanest cabins. Celia Gibbs, age 15, served as  Leader in Training, helping with young campers all week. Adventurers camped out by the lake two nights and cooked a meal outside. Trekkers canoed down the Dan River, camped out and cooked their meal one night, and climbed Pilot Mountain.

Thank you to many donors, including N.C. 4-H, for providing scholarships for our campers. Thank you also to N.C. 4-H for providing funds for a bus to take the group to camp!

Scholarship applications for camp in 2020 are due in October. Download the application form. The date for the 2020 camping trip will be determined in October.
