Extension Master Food Volunteer Classes Are Underway

— Written By and last updated by

Last week in our Extension Master Food Volunteer class, volunteers learned to use their knives skills by making a Chicken and Broccoli Quiche. There are 7 participants from Henderson and Transylvania Counties taking the 30 hour training. After the training and shadowing, these volunteers will be able to assist Renay Knapp, the Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent, with food demonstrations, food preparation and food preservation workshops. This is the first year the program, similar to the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, has been available in Henderson and Transylvania Counties. The program was awarded $300 to help cover the cost of food and materials. If you are interested in participating in this program in the future, please call the office at 828/697-4891 and get your name in the list.
