We're proud of the Henderson County 4-H WHEP teams!
74 4-Hers converged at Howell Woods in Johnston County for the 2007 State WHEP Contest on Saturday, April 28. This represents the largest group to participate in the North Carolina state contest.
Eleven counties put forth five Senior Division teams and a record 14 Junior Division teams. Teams and individuals competed in events including wildlife identification, wildlife foods, aerial photos, and on-site wildlife management practices.
The 2007 4-H Talent Show was Tuesday, May 2, at Opportunity House.
Volunteer judges were Karen Bayne Pfotzer and Sue Ruff. Tempo Music sponsored the talent show. After the county level, "4-H Entertains" is no longer a competition. County judges chose the first place junior and senior acts to go on to perform at District Activity Day. Two acts will be chosen from all of the Western Counties to perform in the afternoon awards ceremony. Judges in Raleigh will choose performers from all of the District Activity Days to perform at 4-H Congress in Raleigh. These performers will receive a full scholarship to 4-H Congress, and training by Nova Thomas, a 4-H alumna, while at Congress.
